Cabinet Vanity Bathroom Remodel, Urbana

A lovely white cabinet serves as a vanity with a drop-in sink and custom-made granite countertop and backsplash in this Urbana bathroom remodel.

It always looks worse before it looks better, though! The old cabinet under the window was too bulky; the apron under the windowsill had been removed to make room for it. The vanity wall was opened to allow framing for the new medicine cabinet. Parts of the subfloor had to be replaced because of water damage; concrete board was then laid down for tiling. The plumbing vents were brought up to code, and the plumbing rerouted for the new sink. New electrical boxes were also installed.

The faux marble shower surround was not replaced, but the fixtures were updated to match the sink. The new paneled closet door matches the bathroom door and the new bench under the window matches the vanity and provides extra storage.  A “Solatube” skylight brings soft light into the room during the day. The floor is tiled with 1-inch white hexagonal tiles and square black border tiles.
