Additional Recognition

In March 2014, we were accredited by the Better Business Bureau with an A+ rating.

2011 YWCA Leadership Award for Business for New Prairie’s commitment to “train, hire, and promote women in the construction industry.”

We have had three projects published in AT HOME in Central Illinois magazine: an environmentally-friendly kitchen, our restoration of a vintage Airstream, and the restoration of a Victorian Italianate farmhouse built in 1874.

In September 2008, New Prairie’s straw bale house in Urbana was featured on 190 North, an eclectic television program out of Chicago. The show featured eco-friendly products and ideas.

CCnet and the University of Illinois’ Office of Public Engagement produced a short video tour of New Prairie Construction’s strawbale house in Urbana, Illinois, with an interview of Julie Birdwell, co-owner (with Jill Mulder) of New Prairie. Watch below!
